"What God has joined together, let no one separate."Matthew 19:6
God Is in the Restoration Business
The same God who raised Jesus from the dead can restore a dead marriage. That is not a clichΓ© β it is a theological statement about the nature of resurrection power. If you are fighting for your marriage, you are fighting in alignment with God's heart. He hates divorce (Malachi 2:16) β not because He is indifferent to pain, but because He knows the covenant He designed can be healed.
A Prayer for a Marriage in Crisis
🙏 Prayer
Father, I will not give up on this marriage without first bringing it to You. You joined us together, and I believe You have the power to restore what has broken. Heal the wounds between us β the betrayals, the distance, the unkind words spoken in anger. Give us both the humility to admit where we have failed. Give us the courage to try again. What we cannot fix, You can. I surrender this marriage to You. Restore it, Lord. Amen.
When Your Spouse Is Not Praying With You
You cannot force your spouse to want restoration. But your prayers on their behalf are not powerless. God can work in a heart that is closed to you β He has access that you do not. Keep praying, keep treating your spouse with dignity, and give God room to work.
"Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word..."1 Peter 3:1
A Prayer for Forgiveness in Marriage
🙏 Prayer
Lord, I ask Your forgiveness for the ways I have contributed to the breakdown of this marriage. I have not always loved well. Help me to see my own faults clearly, to own them without deflection, and to change. And as I ask forgiveness β help me to extend it fully to my spouse as well. Amen.
