First Steps of Faith — What Do I Do Now?

A practical guide for new believers — how to pray, how to read the Bible, how to find a community, and how to grow in th

"As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby."1 Peter 2:2

You Are a New Creation — Now What?

Coming to faith in Jesus is the beginning of a life, not the end of a journey. The Bible describes new Christians as newborn babies — and babies need milk, warmth, and community to grow. Here are the essential first steps.

Step 1 — Talk to God Every Day (Prayer)

Prayer is simply talking to God. You don't need special words or formal postures. Talk to Him as you would a Father who genuinely loves you — honestly, simply, and regularly.

Start with 5 minutes each morning. Tell Him what you are grateful for, what you need, and what you are worried about.

🙏 Prayer

Good morning Lord. I am new to this and I don't always know what to say. But I want to know You. Help me to hear Your voice today. Thank You for saving me. Amen.

Step 2 — Read the Bible

The Bible is how God speaks to you. Start with the Gospel of John — it is the clearest account of who Jesus is and what He came to do. Read a small portion each day rather than trying to read everything at once.

Step 3 — Find a Church Community

You were not designed to follow Jesus alone. Find a local church where the Bible is taught clearly, people are genuine, and you feel welcomed. Attend regularly — community is how you grow.

Step 4 — Tell Someone

Sharing your faith — even just telling one person that you have become a Christian — is one of the most faith-strengthening things you can do. It makes it real, it creates accountability, and it begins your journey of witness.
