"He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed."1 Peter 2:24
Jehovah Rapha — The God Who Heals
One of God's covenant names revealed in Scripture is Jehovah Rapha — I am the Lord who heals you (Exodus 15:26). This is not a description of something God does occasionally. It is a declaration of who He is. Healing is part of His character, not merely His activity.
Whether healing comes instantly, gradually, or through medical treatment — all healing flows from the same source. Pray boldly, pray persistently, and trust the One who knows your body better than any physician.
A Prayer for Healing
🙏 Prayer
Lord Jehovah Rapha — You are the God who heals. I come to You now with my body that is broken, sick, and in need of Your touch. I declare Your Word over my body: by Your stripes I am healed. I am not praying a religious formula — I am making contact with the living God who made this body and who has authority over every cell, every organ, every system. Heal me, Lord. Restore what has been broken. And in the waiting, give me peace that surpasses understanding. Amen.
Healing Scriptures to Declare
- Jeremiah 17:14 — Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.
- Psalm 103:3 — He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.
- James 5:14–15 — The prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well.
- Isaiah 53:5 — By his wounds we are healed.
- 3 John 1:2 — Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health.
When Healing Is Slow
Not every prayer for healing brings instant results. This does not mean God is absent or uncaring. Sometimes healing comes through medical treatment, sometimes over time, and sometimes in ways we do not expect. Paul's thorn in the flesh (2 Corinthians 12:7–9) teaches us that God's grace is sufficient even when the condition remains.
Keep praying. Keep trusting. God hears every word.
"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."2 Corinthians 12:9
