"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."2 Timothy 1:7
Fear Is Not From God
This verse is not saying believers never feel fear — it is declaring that the spirit of fear does not originate from God. Fear that paralyses, that distorts reality, that constantly anticipates the worst — that has a spiritual dimension and can be addressed spiritually.
Pray this declaration boldly. Stand on the Word.
A Prayer Against Fear
🙏 Prayer
Lord, I declare Your Word over my mind right now: You have not given me a spirit of fear. I renounce every spirit of fear, panic, dread, and intimidation in Jesus' name. I receive instead the spirit of power — the same power that raised Jesus from the dead. The spirit of love — that casts out fear. And the spirit of a sound mind — clear, present, grounded in truth. I choose courage today, not because I feel it, but because You have given it to me. Amen.
Fear vs. Wisdom
Not all fear is wrong. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10). Recognising genuine danger is healthy. The kind of fear Scripture addresses is the paralysing, irrational, faith-destroying fear that keeps you from living the life God has called you to.
Ask God to show you the difference between a wise caution and a destructive fear.
