"Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved — you and your household."Acts 16:31
The Promise Behind This Prayer
Acts 16:31 is one of the most cherished promises for praying parents. It does not mean your child's salvation is automatic — it means that the God you believe in is committed to your household and that your faith creates an environment where His Spirit can work.
No parent can force their child to believe. But every parent can pray with extraordinary faith, model what genuine faith looks like, and trust God with the outcome.
A Prayer for Your Child's Salvation
🙏 Prayer
Lord, the deepest desire of my heart is that [name] would know You personally — not the religion of their childhood, but a living, real relationship with Jesus. I declare Acts 16:31 over my household. You are faithful. I believe in You — and I trust that Your Spirit is working in [name's] life even now, even when I cannot see it. Draw them to Yourself. Open their eyes to who You are. Let them encounter You in a way that changes everything. Amen.
What to Do Alongside Praying
- Model authentic faith — not perfect faith, but real, honest, daily dependence on God.
- Keep your relationship with your child warm — closeness gives your faith credibility.
- Don't force — invite. Create space for genuine questions without fear of punishment.
- Share your own story of how you came to faith — in age-appropriate ways.
- Trust God's timing. Many people come to faith in their 20s, 30s, or later.
