"Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective."James 5:16
You Are Called to Stand in the Gap
Intercession means standing before God on behalf of someone else. When you pray for a sick person, you are doing exactly what Moses did (Numbers 21), what the paralytic's friends did (Mark 2), and what James commands: praying for each other's healing.
Your prayer for someone else is not a nice gesture — it is a spiritual act with real power.
A Prayer for Someone Who Is Sick
🙏 Prayer
Lord, I bring [name] to You. You know every detail of their illness — the diagnosis, the prognosis, the fear they feel, the people who love them and are afraid. I stand in the gap for them right now. Touch their body with Your healing power. Give their doctors wisdom and steady hands. Give them peace in the waiting. Give their family strength. And in it all — let Your glory be revealed. Amen.
Praying With Someone Who Is Sick
James 5:14 says to call for the elders of the church to pray — laying hands on the sick person and praying in faith. If you have access to someone who is sick, ask if you can pray with them. Physical presence and spoken prayer over a sick person is a powerful act of faith.
