"I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions."1 Timothy 2:1–2
Why Pray for Leaders?
This command was written when Rome — a pagan empire — was in power. Paul did not say to pray only for godly leaders or leaders you agree with. He said to pray for all who are in authority. The reason: so that 'we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness' (1 Tim. 2:2).
Your nation's direction is partially shaped by whether the church prays.
A Prayer for National Leaders
🙏 Prayer
Lord, I bring the leaders of [my nation] before You today. Whatever their personal faith, they bear enormous responsibility for millions of lives. Give them wisdom beyond their natural capacity. Protect them from corruption. Give them advisors who value truth and justice. And wherever they have gone wrong — have mercy on them and on us. Let justice roll down like a river. Amen.
A Prayer for National Healing
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven."2 Chronicles 7:14
🙏 Prayer
Lord, our nation carries wounds — historical injustices, deep divisions, broken communities. We cannot heal ourselves. Only You can restore what has been torn. Send revival. Send healing. Raise up leaders who serve rather than seek to be served. Have mercy on our land. We return to You. Amen.
